A Lesson In Romantics Zip. Oasis revealed the details for the version of their new album Dig Out Your Soul. In addition to the album, the box will also include an additional CD with three B-sides and six remixes. There's also a DVD containing 40 minutes of exclusive behind-the-scenes footage featuring the making of the album and 'The Shock of the Lightning' video.
The box set will also feature heavyweight vinyl containing the album and bonus tracks, a 24-page hardcover booklet and an MP3 download of the album. If that's too much Oasis for you, you can also choose between just buying the CD/DVD, the CD or the vinyl sans the bonus tracks.

By their very nature, people delight in hating bands who ‘seem’ to have risen from out of nowhere [of course Oasis have been around for a long time now, but they were disliked from the get go in many circles], as they were pretentious, destructive, and self centered. Ignoring the fans, the critics, and even each other; which seems to pretty much define what rock n’ roll is all about. Just look at The Doors, a completely fragmented group who’s music has gone on to inspire others for the last forty years. And I haven’t even gotten into The Velvet Underground, who were one tragedy after another, but never the less created some of the most lasting and enduring music of all time. And while Oasis have not neglected their ever present connection to The Beatles on this release, the album is certainly more contextually centered than their previous outings. Dig Out Your Soul is a new direction for the band in general, with more experimental song writing, production, and bright lush arrangements, making this the most exciting psychedelic release of their careers.
Poised to challenge The Verve’s classic Urban Hymns. The arrangements, lyrics, vocals and production are so perfectly considered that these experimental / psychedelic flavorings sound almost classical. Other outings by Oasis have occupied a certain definable spacial area, while this release seems to possess music that is much larger, and ever expanding in its nature.
In short, this is an album that maintains an irresistible atmospheric pull for sustained periods, enveloping gorgeous layerings, rhythmic adventures, and harmonies with more than enough edges to hold your attention for the next fifty years. This time, Oasis have finally opened their arms wide enough to embrace all of the music that made the 60’s so spectacular. There is no shame in showing one’s influences, especially when they have done so in such a stunning manner, building, developing and creating a whole new summit for others to conquer. *** The fun facts: - The album art was an apocalyptic collage created by artist Julian House, with all of the singles artwork being created around this theme. - Ralph Steadman suggested the phrase 'Dig Out Your Soul' for the album's title, a line in the song 'To Be Where There's Life”.
